The Shore & Country Club is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Assistant Swim Team Coach for the summer 2026 season. This role is ideal for an individual who is passionate about competitive swimming, enjoys working with youth athletes, and is eager to help foster a positive, skill-building team environment.

Position Overview:

Competitive Swim Team
Assist the Head Swim Coach with daily practices, both collaboratively and independently

Coach swimmers at meets and participate in team events throughout the season

Practices are typically held Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–12:00 PM

Afternoon practices will be held until local schools are dismissed for summer

Season runs from early June through the second week of August

Pre-Team Program
Support instruction for developing swimmers who can complete one lap of freestyle but are not yet ready for the competitive team

Teach stroke technique, drills, starts from the blocks, and overall water confidence

Provide hands-on coaching both on deck and in the water

Assist with organizing and running:
One intrasquad meet
One competitive meet for pre-team swimmers

Additional Opportunities
Option to join the club’s lifeguard staff

Opportunity to provide private swim lessons in coordination with the Pool Director (additional compensation)

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will be:
Enthusiastic, mature, reliable, and organized
Experienced in competitive swimming (collegiate experience is a plus)
Able to teach proper stroke technique and fundamentals
Skilled at communicating with swimmers ages 5–17 of varying abilities
Comfortable working both independently and as part of a coaching team

Required Certifications:
Current Lifeguard Certification
CPR and First Aid Certification

Preferred:
Familiarity with the Fairfield County Swim League
